Out at our growing facility we currently produce five main crops: shade trees, roses, perennials and grasses,
annuals and shrubs. Our shade trees are grown in a state of the art "pot in pot" system which allows us to harvest the tree at any time
of the year. We grow mainly 1 ½" to 2" caliper trees that will make quite a statement when planted at your home.
Virtually all of our roses come from Trout Creek. Started in late February in a temperature controlled house,
they are rooted, then hardened off before being put outside to finish off. Then as space allows we bring them in perfect shape to our
garden centre ready to continue there journey to your garden.
A large number of our perennials and grasses are transplanted from plugs starting in late February right through until early April.
Again in the climate controlled house until well rooted and hardened off, then transported outside to be finished off. Some of these
will be outside in our large shade house, custom built to protect shade loving species like Hosta and Hydrangea from the blazing
Okanagan sun.
Our annual crop in Trout Creek consists of hanging baskets, planters and larger annuals and vegetables. Usually the greenhouses are
bursting from March right through the season. Limited by space, we cannot grow everything we sell, but our locally grown production is
increasing in this crop as space and time allows.
Shrub production is probably our smallest crop. Here we pot up bare root plants and also containerized plants that need shifting
into a bigger pot. This allows the plants at GardenWorks to always be growing and thriving, and often it is a matter of weeks before
the shrubs make it back to the garden centre, bigger, stronger, healthier and again, ready for your garden.
